A Man Skiing on the Snow in a Blue Overall

February 2016, President’s Letter

Hello Skiers and Boarders!

I hope you all enjoyed the ski holiday we had last weekend!  I’m jealous of everyone who made it out on the mountains.  I loved seeing the facebook posts!

If you didn’t make it to mountains, I’m sure you played in your backyard.  I saw boarding, hiking, sitting out by a fire on the river and cross country skiing.  Hopefully the hills won’t lose too much snow with the warm weekend coming at us.

The Holiday Valley trip is about to take off this weekend – we wish you the best conditions!  The Seven Springs trip was cancelled due to lack of interest.  Perhaps we can try that trip again next year.  The Steamboat trip is at the end of February.

Board elections will be taking place at our March meeting.  Since a large percentage of the current board will be in Steamboat, we moved that meeting to the second Tuesday in March.  Be sure to mark your calendars for March 8th.  The ballot for board elections will be finalized and distributed at the February meeting next Tuesday, Feb 2nd.

Here’s the text from our bylaws about board elections:

——————————

ARTICLE VI – ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section 1 – Nomination and Election
a. Election of officers shall take place at the March meeting.

b. The President shall appoint a nominating committee of three members at the February meeting.

c. The nominating committee shall prepare a ballot to be mailed to members with the announcement of the March meeting. Members may return their ballots to committee members before that date or bring them to the March meeting where the final count will be made and the new slate of officers announced.

d. Installation of officers shall take place at the beginning of the April meeting. The newly elected President shall preside over the membership meeting following the installation. The April board meeting shall be a joint meeting where both the old and new boards are present. The outgoing President shall open the meeting and finish any remaining business of his administration. The newly elected President then shall preside over the meeting and conduct any business necessary.

Bring a friend to the next meeting – get involved with the club!  The more I get to know everyone, the more I realize how amazing this group is.  The range of life experiences, adventure and knowledge will blow you away.  Sit beside someone new and get to know them – share stories.  I guarantee you won’t get bored!See you at the February meeting!
