Parkersburg Paddlefest Update! Saturday September 19, 2015

Hello Paddlers!
We encourage Ohio Valley Ski Club Members to get together this Saturday to participate in the Parkersburg Paddlefest.  As a reminder, the Paddlefest is hosted by Lapping the Couch Adventures in Parkersburg.  The Ski Club is encouraging our members to meet on the point at 10 and paddle together for a great morning.  There are also Friday evening and Sunday activities with the Paddlefest, read below.
After the Paddlefest, the Ohio Valley Ski Club is continuing at 1:00 that afternoon with a river play day.  We’ll have two pontoon boats taking members to Blennerhasset Island.

Paddlefest is only days away and we are excited to welcome you to our paddling party!  We have 3 days of events for the festival. Here are some details.

BOAT DROP OFF – You may leave your boat at Point Park starting Friday at 1 pm until 9 pm.  A guard will watch your boat overnight.  There will be no cars allowed into the park on Saturday until after the event.  You may carry your boat to the launch Saturday morning (a couple hundred yards) but may not drive in.  Folks with a permit will be allowed to drive into the park after the event to retrieve their boats.  All boats must have an event permit to be left overnight.

LIFEVESTS must be PROPERLY WORN at all times.

LIVE MUSIC will be at the market from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday evening.  There are some great places in the market to grab a bite to eat.  We are located at the end of the Market at 113 Ann Street, Parkersburg, WV  26101.

Permits are available for pick-up Friday from 10 am – 7 pm at our shop.  You can register the day of the event.  Registration will be open from 7 am – 8 am on Saturday.  Online registration is available until Thursday.  You can register at the shop anytime we are open.  Online registration is available here:  https://squareup.com/market/LTCA

Friday night
At 7:30 p.m. there is a night paddle scheduled on the Little Kanawha River.  This is a free event.  Lights are required front and rear on your boat and an event waiver must be signed.  We have lights available for sale if you need some.

Saturday 8 am – 1 pm

The main event!  The Ohio River will be closed to only Paddlefest Participants with permits on their boats and wrists!  Permits are available for pick-up Friday from 10 am – 7 pm at our shop. We will paddle from Point Park to the West Virginia side of the Island and land at the second ramp.  Paddle back to the Point Park by 1 p.m. and then join us in the Market and share your experience.  Head out to North Bend for Sunday’s fun.

Sunday

Meet at Cokely Boat Ramp at North Bend State Park on Sunday for a group paddle.  The best paddling in the area without a doubt.  This event is free but a waiver must be signed.

Be safe.  Have fun!  Weather looks fantastic!
