Hello\u00a0everyone!We had a blast on the ski club’s bike ride in May. \u00a0The weather was perfect for the 2+ hour journey from Athens to Nelsonville. We even had a bicycle built for two on the trip from one of the founding members of the ski club – John Apgar and his wife Sharon!

\nKirk even stationed himself on the path on the way back as an oasis with a cooler full of cold water.<\/div>\n

Instead of the cookout, we went to Casa Nueva after the ride and enjoyed lunch and a few cold Dos Equis!<\/p>\n

We’d like to get together in June for an afternoon on Blennerhasset Island. \u00a0June 27th is a tentative date. Dan Fowler, a ski club member, will be speaking at our June 1st meeting about the Island. \u00a0Dan’s father, Dan Fowler Senior\u00a0moved to the area around 1980 to develop the Island and rebuild the Mansion. \u00a0He was the first Executive Director of Blennerhassett Island which later became a\u00a0State Park.<\/div>\n

The event for July is the whitewater rafting trip on July 19th.\u00a0\u00a0Sheila Decker organized the trip with Kraton on\u00a0the Lower New River with ACE Whitewater.\u00a0 \u00a0First come first serve with full payment. Total cost is $95\u00a0Includes full day trip with a grilled riverside lunch. Plans have changed from the last facebook post:\u00a0Transportation is on your own, there will be no\u00a0bus.\u00a0Money is due on June 1st – you can pay Sheila at the meeting, but she needs a headcount asap. \u00a0For more details and sign up contact Sheila Decker @304-428-9176.<\/div>\n

Next up is a Via Ferrata rock climbing in August\u00a0 I have brochures that I’ll bring to the next meeting. \u00a0If anyone would like to volunteer to lead this trip, please let me know. \u00a0Email me at NancyMillersEmail@Gmail.com<\/a>.If you like to ski\u00a0at Snowshoe, especially if you\u00a0bought Snowshoe’s Ridiculous Pass this season, let me know.  <\/p>\n

We have a few ideas for next season.We will also be voting to change\u00a0the day of the week for the meeting in order to change the venue to the Parkersburg Country Club at the July meeting, so please be sure to come to JP Henries on Monday, July 6th!<\/p>\n
